Ostbahn manufactures a wide variety of components and complete products. The following products highlight some of the types of products and manufacturing processes that Ostbahn provides. Since Ostbahn's manufacturing capabilities can be applied to many industries, new products are continually added.
For his latest furniture design, Michael Young needed a reliable and capable partner for manufacturing. Because the process between designing and manufacturing often requires understanding and communication, Mr. Young sought a manufacturer with not only production capabilities, but also the ability to provided important feedback. Mr. Young chose Ostbahn to bring his design vision into reality.
Ostbahn provided both engineering and manufacturing services for Michael Young's products. The engineering department generated the production drawings and models for the sub-components and assembly. Ostbahn employed several manufacturing processes in the fabrication and final assembly. The design required CNC for finishing extruded and stamped aluminum components. In addition, the chair has a sand blast or hairline finish, which needed to have a consistent appearance across all the chair components. Finally, Ostbahn provided the final assembly and quality control.
Because of its consumer electronic product experience, Ostbahn was approached to provide manufacturing services for the front panel (faceplate) for a new home theater product. The initial project was to bring a concept to prototype for sampling and promoting the system concept.
Ostbahn worked with the customer's design group to provide valuable feedback on the manufacturability of the home theater system. The faceplate component involved stamping, CNC, anodization, and surface finishing. Ostbahn worked within tight time constraints, delivering prototypes in time to meet important trade show deadlines.
Speaker Faceplate
Ostbahn's initial manufacturing focus was fabricating consumer electronic parts, ranging from small MP3 enclosures to large speaker tower faceplates. Most of our consumer electronic customers are Japanese-based international companies, which require exacting standards for their products. For example, these large aluminum speaker faceplates required near perfect surface finishing. Ostbahn used several surface treatment processes, including automated hairline finishing machines, to achieve the results per customer requirements.
MP3 Player Enclosure
When Ostbahn first began fabricating aluminum parts in China, there were few modern and reliable anodization production lines. In order to achieve high quality anodization, Ostbahn built out an automated anodization production line following a Japanese design.
The fabrication of MP3 enclosures often requires anodization in multiple colors. Ostbahn works with customers to find the specific color requirements and then consistently reproduces the colors throughout production.
